First Philec Solar Corporation (FPSC) is the first large-scale silicon wafer slicing company in the Philippines. It is envisioned to have 100 multi-wire saws (MWS) producing 240 million wafers annually; this will support approximately 720 megawatts of solar energy. At full build, FPSC will be the biggest of its kind in Asia.

FPSC has the latest Wire Saw available, capable of producing up to 120 micron-thin wafers, and Fully Automated Cleaning Systems.

FPSC is a Joint Venture Agreement between First Philippine Electric Corporation (First Philec) of the Lopez Group of Companies owning 80%, and SunPower Philippines Manufacturing Limited (SPML) of SunPower (San Jose, USA) owning 20%.

Laboratory Technician

Responsibilities:  

  • Receiving and recording samples for laboratory test. These can be varied from wafer samples, water samples, Silicon Carbide samples and other samples that may need to be tested if issues or special qualification arise.
  • Performing sample preparation which includes blank preparation (mixing HF, H2O2 and water), sample digestion (soaking of samples in the blank) and sample measurement using ICP-OES.
  • Operating the ICP-OES (Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectrometry)
  • Performing basic ICP-OES standard calibration, basic trouble shooting and initial OCAP (out of control action plan) for failed samples.
  • Result reporting and initial data correctness check specific on measurement-related errors.
  • Monitoring critical laboratory variables such as temperature, DI (deionize) resistivity, solution life, etc.
  • Maintaining cleanliness, orderliness and safety in the metals laboratory.
  • Maintaining an adequate inventory of laboratory supplies. Notify the QA Engineer when chemical supplies need replenished.

Requirements:

  • Must be a Graduate of BS Chemistry, BS Chemical Engineering or BS Biology or must have at least minimum of 10 units of chemistry subject during tertiary education.
  • Work experience on a chemical laboratory is a preference.
  • With job related work experience in Quality Assurance as laboratory technology.
  • Willing to be relocated in Luzon particularly in Sto. Tomas, Batangas.
