The National Institute for Policy Studies (NIPS) is a research think tank of the Liberal tradition.  NIPS is committed to expanding and deepening the practice of democracy and good governance in the Philippines by contributing significantly to the policy debate within the political arena.

NIPS is looking for three (3) Research Associates for short-term policy research in five areas:  Education, Health, Food Security, Job Creation and a Mindanao Growth strategy.  Governance is a cross-cutting policy research theme.

1. Qualifications.  A graduate degree in any field of the social sciences, economics, development studies or related field.  A Masters degree preferred, but will take graduate students still enrolled and on track to complete a graduate degree.

2. Base.  Based in Metro Manila with frequent field travel within the Philippines .  Travel and travel-related expenses covered.

3. Time frame.  March to July 2009 (5 months).  Full-time research work.

4. Terms.  Professional services contract based on research output.
