The BS Economics is a four-year pure economics degree program. This new program offering is designed to produce graduates with a strong grasp of economic theory and the ability to apply economic principles in the analysis of economic phenomena in various areas of the economic discipline. Most of the courses are intensive in mathematics and statistics which are necessary for economic modeling and forecasting. BS Econ graduates are highly employable in government agencies involved in economic planning and policy-making such as the National Economic Development Authority and the Banko Sentral Ng Pilipinas among others, where they can contribute to the development of many public policies including health care, welfare, and on efforts to reduce inequality, pollution and crime. In addition, they can also work in banks, the academe, or go into independent research and consultancy. The program also provides a good theoretical foundation for BS Economics graduates who have the passion to pursue a Master鈥檚 and Ph.D, programs in economics.
